Habitat Furniture History

The Habitat chain of shops was founded by Sir Terence Conran in 1964. Prior to this he started his own design practice in the 1950s and designed a shop for another sixties icon, Mary Quant. The use of Pine dominated Habitat furniture, but the stores were unusual for the time in selling co-ordinated ranges not solely of furniture, but of every possible item needed for a room.
