Invention of Billiard Tables

The invention of the billiard table is credited to the company of Gillows, established by the Lancastrian Robert Gillow during the mid 1700s. The company, which continued in business until 1961, enjoyed a reputation for fine quality furniture and fulfilled commissions for many prestigious clients, including Queen Victoria. Today furniture from Gillows attracts a premium whenever it is presented for sale.
